I’ve thought about starting a blog for a long time.
Below are some screenshots from my first attempt at blogging, circa 2010. For Christmas one year, my dad gifted me with my own website domain and I rallied up any family members who were willing to read whatever posts my 11-year-old self could draft up.
Nine years and a global crisis later, I decided it was time to give it another shot.
Just less than a month ago, my roommate and I were packing for spring break. We locked up our apartment and joked about hearing rumors of Penn State students not returning to campus because of COVID-19. With Hilton Head and warmer weather on our minds, we left State College in the dust for what we expected would be for only a week.
We were unfortunately mistaken and ended up being terribly wrong. In the midst of this incredibly scary, confusing and really just bizarre time, all that I’ve felt inclined to do is write.
That being said, here’s a quick intro: my name is Payton Breidinger and I’m a junior attending Penn State at University Park. Assuming that the world regains some sense of normalcy in the coming months, I plan to graduate next spring with a Public Relations major and a Communications Arts & Science minor. Besides writing, I’m a total music enthusiast and enjoy working out. There are times where I have trouble remembering how many siblings I have off the top of my head (six, think?) and have returned to live at home in a small town outside of Allentown, Pennsylvania for the time being. I love Penn State tailgates, sweet potato fries and playing the acoustic guitar.
What do I plan to write about? I have absolutely no idea.
What I do know is that I won’t claim to know much about the world or try to even map out my future. In my 20 years of life so far, I’ve found that I’m most confident when I simply write what I feel and about things that I’ve been through. This is a passion project through and through - one that I’m both excited and nervous to share.
